Steve Azor is a Haitian-American multidisciplinary creative, producer, broadcaster, herbalist, and now author and independent publisher whose work has moved across music, film, media, culture, and community for nearly four decades.
Raised in East Elmhurst, Queens, New York, Azor began his professional journey in entertainment in 1988. His career has included work as a dancer, DJ, music producer, entertainment host, photographer, videographer, and director. His early screen work includes Stay Tuned (1992), while his contributions to music have connected him with artists including Salt-N-Pepa, Kwamé, Dana Dane, Antoinette, and Kid ’n Play.
Azor is also the creator, producer, and owner of Ayiti Deploge, a broadcasting platform centered on Haitian music, culture, and entertainment. Through his work behind the camera and in production, he has collaborated with musicians, recording artists BélO, Rutshelle Guillaume, Fatima Altieri and Roody Roodboy, political figures, entertainers, and other public personalities in the United States and internationally.
Beyond entertainment and media, Azor is a practicing herbalist who studied with Herbal Bush House. His work in herbal health reflects another dimension of a lifelong interest in knowledge, self-reliance, wellness, and community. He continues to share what he has learned about herbs and their traditional uses with others.
In 2026, Azor adds author and independent publisher to that body of work with the establishment of Azor Publishing and the release of his first book, Managed By Design: How Systemic Patterns Undermine Black Sovereignty. The book extends questions that have followed him through business, community, politics, and culture: Who holds the power? Who benefits from the arrangement? And what is actually being built—and for whom?
Managed By Design is now in bookstores!
